DAVID CRIMMINS '52

David Crimmins, Fencer at Newark College of Engineering (and later under the NJIT banner) has one of the richest backgrounds of any of the school's sports. One of the finest eras in that rich background came from 1948 to 1952 and tonight the late Dave Crimmins joins teammates Bob and Bill Taetzsch in the NJIT Hall of Fame. Hamilton V. (Ham) Bowser, also of the NCE Class of 1952, entered the Hall of Fame in 1989.

Mr. Crimmins entered NCE in 1948 and fenced epee for four years. He won two-thirds of his bouts in the epee and helped the team to 30 dual match wins against only one defeat during his four-year career.

His individual epee records from his first year are unavailable and his sophomore record is only partially complete. However, the last two years are complete and his combined record from the available materials was 47-25. He was 13-6 in 1949-50, 14-12 in 1950-51 and then finished his career with a bang, going 20-7 as a senior. In 1951-52, he was victorious in eight of his nine competitions, including 5-0 in the season-ending invitational tournament.

Inducted September 29, 2007
