BALTIMORE, MD - The NJIT men's fencing team traveled to Johns Hopkins where they faced William & Mary, St. John's (MD), Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech and North Carolina Sunday afternoon.
NJIT freshman Andrew Kirk picked up three wins sweeping Virginia in the epee competition. The Highlanders defeated Virginia taking a 5-4 win in the foil competition but Virginia edged NJIT, 11-16. Michael Davis, Javier Vasques and Amrit Ramjattan picked up two wins apiece.
In a close bout against St. John's (MD), falling 11-16, Paul Lorenz and Kirk swept the epee competition coming out on top 6-3. Davis, Vasques and Ramajattan picked up a win each in the foil. Tyler Sells recorded two points for the Highlanders in the saber competition.
The Highlanders will return to action on Sunday, February 10, when they host the NJIT Invitational at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center. Competition is set to start at 10am.
