MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The New Jersey Institute of Technology men's fencing team got three wins apiece from Rob Tani (sabre), Zach Hvizdak (epee) and Javier Vasques (epee) in Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association competition hosted by NJIT Sunday at the New Jersey Fencing Alliance venue in Maplewood.
NJIT, which is part of the MACFA "Middle", along with Hunter, Johns Hopkins, Stevens and Yeshiva, took on the MACFA "North"--Army, Cornell, Drew, Haverford and Lafayette--in Sunday's action.
NJIT came up short against all five North foes. Johns Hopkins (4-0) had the best record among the Middle teams, while Hunter and Yeshiva all went 0-5. Stevens was 3-2. The North teams all had winning recordS, paced by Haverford's 4-0.
