NEWARK, NJ - New Jersey Institute of Technology will team with the New Jersey Fencing Alliance to host a Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association day of competition Sunday at the NJFA facility in Maplewood, NJ.

NJIT fencing, a MACFA member, will join the NJFA to host teams from Army, Cornell, Drew, Haverford, Hunter, Lafayette, Stevens and Yeshiva in a series of 25 team dual meets, with each dual meet consisting of 27 individual bouts. The participating schools are among the 15 member schools of MACFA.

Hosting such a large competition is a big task that will be eased by the New Jersey Fencing Alliance venue, which is equipped with 18 metal fencing strips, seven practice strips, lockers, two large lounge areas and ample on-site parking. The New Jersey Fencing Alliance is located at 50-58 Burnett Street in Maplewood.

"By moving the competition to a spacious fencing-specific facility, the competitive experience will be enhanced for all the participants," said NJIT Director of Athletics Lenny Kaplan.

Frank Mustilli, head coach and founder of the NJFA welcomes the event. "We are very pleased that this important tournament will be held at our facility," he said.
