NEWARK, NJ - Jo Rene Valentin picked up three goals leading New Jersey Institute of Technology men's soccer team past Bloomfield College, 9-0, Sunday afternoon in a preseason exhibition game at Lubetkin Field.

Valentin was one of four different Highlander goal scorers, as NJIT scored five times in the first 35 minutes before adding four in the second half in their final preseason game.

Valentin collected two of his goals in the first half for NJIT, which also got first-half tallies from Gustav Warfving, Erik Magnusson and Marco Gaspar. Valentin, Gaspar, Osvaldo Perez and Warfving all notched second-half goals for the Highlanders.

NJIT used two goalkeepers. Ryan Sutherland played the first half and then was relieved by Collin Cunning in the second half, combining for a shutout.

NJIT begins its 2006 season on Friday, August 25 at 7:00 pm on Lubetkin Field against Iona.
