PHILADELPHIA - NJIT sophomore men's soccer player Erik Magnusson was named Atlantic Soccer Conference Player of the Week--his second such honor in as many weeks--for his play in games through September 16, ASC publicity director Tony Berich announced today.

Magnusson scored for the Highlanders in their 2-1 loss to Long Island University on Friday to win his second award from the ASC.

Magnusson, who scored both goals in the Highlanders 2-0 upset win at San Diego State on September 7, was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player of the Soccer Post/Aztec Classic men's soccer tournament in San Diego and ASC Player of the Week on September 10.

The sophomore from Sweden continues to lead the conference in overall scoring (1.75 points per game on 3 goals; 1 assist; 4 games) and in goals per game (0.75; 3 goals; 4 games).

His college roommate and fellow Swedish sophomore, Gustav Warfving, leads the ASC in assists per game (0.50; 2 assists; games).

NJIT's next game is home Friday at 7 pm in the ASC opener against Florida Atlantic on Lubetkin Field.

In addition to NJIT and Florida Atlantic, the six-school ASC includes defending champion Adelphi, Howard, Longwood and Philadelphia.
