NEWARK, NJ - Collin Cunning, New Jersey Institute of Technology's junior goalkeeper, was named today as Atlantic Soccer Conference Player/Goalie of the Week for his play in 84-plus minutes off the bench in the Highlanders' 1-0 double overtime win at Longwood, the ASC announced today.

Cunning entered the conference game when starter Josh Osit was injured 18:42 into the match. Cunning, who earned second team all-conference honors in 2005, played the final 84:17 and made 10 saves, enabling the Highlanders to score a dramatic win in the 103rd minute on a goal by Jo Rene Valentin.

Cunning, a 2004 graduate of Belfast Area High School in Maine, picked up his first win in goal this season, as NJIT raised its conference record to 2-1-1, with two conference games left on the schedule.

The NCAA Division I Atlantic Soccer Conference includes men's teams from NJIT, Adelphi, Florida Atlantic, Hartwick, Howard, Longwood and Philadelphia. The ASC champion receives an automatic berth in the annual NCAA Division I College Cup field.

The Highlanders are in fourth place, with the top four teams set to qualify for the postseason ASC tournament.

NJIT will play a non-conference game at Saint Peter's on Wednesday at 3 pm in Jersey City, NJ, before visiting Florida Atlantic for another ASC game on Saturday at 7 pm.
