NEWARK, NJ - The New Jersey Institute of Technology men's swimming team closed the 2005 portion of the 2005-06 season with a 119-70 over visiting Mount Saint Mary (NY) on Saturday.
The Highlanders, 6-4, have won three of their last four competitions.
Junior Hayk Ekshian again re-wrote his school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.10, cutting nearly a second off the mark he set just three days earlier.
Ekshian was the only NJIT swimmer to break a record, but he was one of four individual first-place finishers against Mount Saint Mary and also part of a winning 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Mark Ubaldi won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:16.78) by more than three minutes, while Ed Lui took first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.88) and Rob Franc was first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.18).
Lui, Steve Schreyer, Ubaldi and Ekshian combined for the top finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.43).
NJIT's next scheduled meet is January 21 at 1 pm, when it will host Adelphi.
