Highlanders Sweep Sacred Heart

TENAFLY, NJ - New Jersey Institute of Technology men's tennis team was dominant in its 7-0 victory over visiting Sacred Heart Saturday afternoon at Tenafly Racquet Club.

The Highlanders won all six singles matches in straight sets and also swept the three doubles matches, including second doubles at 8-5and third doubles at 8-1.

NJIT's Jonathan Lang had a big day, teaming with Ramy Lawandy to win, 8-5, at second doubles and notching a 6-0, 6-3 win in second singles over Sacred Heart's Kevin Guidicipietro.

Steve Erickson, who teamed with Cosmin Chiujdea to win the first doubles match, won at first singles, defeating the visitors' Joe Merendino, 6-2and 6-0.

The Highlanders' Stephen Arlt combined with Brad Weinman to take third doubles, 8-1, and Arlt also won fourth singles, 6-1, 6-1.

NJIT, 5-2 on the season, will travel to NCAA Division I opponent, Rutgers on Saturday, February 16 in New Brunswick.
