MELBOURNE, FL - The New Jersey Institute of Technology men's tennis team edged Florida Institute of Technology, 5-4, Tuesday. The Highlanders improve to 8-6 on the season.
NJIT picked up four out of six singles points and earned a point at No. 3 doubles.
The match came down to No. 5 singles where junior Ramy Lawandy fought out a tough match defeating Christian Keibler 4-6,6-3, 6-4, securing the win for NJIT.
Cosmin Chiujdea, Steve Arlt, Tim Weiman and Lawandy earned points for NJIT in the singles competition. Weiman topped Joel Zahlan 7-6, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Doubles partners Arlt and Weiman were victorious at No. 3 doubles recording an 8-6 win.
The Highlanders return to action Wednesday at noon, when they face Johns Hopkins.
