Johns Hopkins Beats NJIT in Florida

MELBOURNE, FL - Steve Erickson secured a win in first singles and the Highlanders captured the doubles point, but it wasn't enough, as Johns Hopkins claimed a 5-2 men's tennis win from New Jersey Institute of Technology in Wednesday's third leg of NJIT's four-match Spring Break trip to Florida.

Erickson was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over David Maldow in the first spot, but Johns Hopkins captured the other five singles contests.

NJIT secured the doubles point with 8-6 wins in first doubles and in third doubles. Freshmen Cosmin Chiujdea and Jonathan Lang teamed for the first doubles win, while senior captain Steve Arlt and Tim Weiman were the winners at third doubles.

The Highlanders, 8-7 in 2006-07, will wrap up their Florida trip with a 10 am match on Thursday vs. Saint Louis in Melbourne.
