Men's Tennis Edges Fordham, 4-3

BRONX, NY - The NJIT men's tennis team earned its first win of the season edging Fordham 4-3, Tuesday afternoon in men's tennis action.

The Highlanders started off strong taking two out of three doubles contests.

Doubles partners Anthony Tunnero and Cosmin Chiujdea picked up a point at No. 1 spot defeating Dallas Harting and Pat Tool as teammates Steve Erickson and Ramy Lawandy stuck-out a hard fought match at the No. 2 spot taking a 9-8 (2) victory over Sotiris Georgiou and Brandon Abbatiello.

In the singles competition, NJIT won the first three contests as Fordham took the last three.

Erickson topped Dallas at No. 1 (6-0, 6-2) while Chiujdea defeated Tool (6-4, 6-4). Picking up the last point in the singles competition was freshman Tunnero downing Peter Slucky (6-1, 6-2) at the third spot.

The Highlanders return to action Wednesday, September 26 when they travel to Emmitsburg, MD to face Mount Saint Mary's at 4pm.
