LEWISBURG, PA - Iulia Doci and Isha Toor posted a 3-0 record as doubles partners and crowned champions in the final day at the Bucknell Invitational.
Doci and Toor who combined for a 9-8 (11) victory over UConn's LoRusso and Herb yesterday in their first doubles contests moved on to defeat Quinnipiac's Wilson and Markinson in their second match of the day and ended with a sweep the final contest with a 9-8 (2) victory.
Placing second was Quinnipiac's duo of Petruzzi/Herb, third was UConn's Campitiello/Doran and finishing fourth was Quinnipac's Steinert/Kono.
Doci fell to Mary Wilson in the first flight of the women's single competition yesterday as Wilson was crowned the champion.
For the men, Steve Erickson battled in the final round of the men's singles competition falling to John Hughes from Quinnipiac.
Sophomore Jonathan Lang and Cosmin Chiujdea came up short for the Highlanders in the final day as they earned wins yesterday against UConn's Joy Michaels and Ben Schuler.
Also competing in the other flights for NJIT was Anthony Tunnero, Ramy Lawandy, Tim Weiman, Sidharth Verma.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Friday, October 12 when they host Fordham at the Fleisher Athletic Center. The men travel to Bethlehem, PA to compete at the Lehigh Tournament scheduled for Saturday, October 13.
