STATEN ISLAND, NY - New Jersey Institute of Technology men's track and field team competed against host Wagner College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, St. Francis (NY), Hofstra University, Monmouth University and Saint Peter's on Saturday at the Wagner Invitational.
The meet was scored as a series of head-to-head competitions, as the Highlanders defeated two out of six teams. NJIT was victorious against Hofstra (76-40) and Monmouth (91-18).
Akitunde Oyawusi placed 10th in the 100 meter dash with a time of (11.60). In the 200 meter dash Jeffery Page was the top finisher for the Highlanders coming in 8th (22.80). Matt Michalec and Oyawusi followed behind with times of (22.80) and (23.00).
In the 400 meter dash Page crossed the finish line in fourth (53.51). Sophomore Umar Saeed placed fifth in the 5000 meter run (15:20.00). Joel Rosado and Jerard King finished side by side in the 110 meter hurdles finishing third and fourth with times of (15.90, 16.00) respectively.
The Highlanders are off till April 7, when they host the NJIT Highlander Invitational at 9:00am in Paramus, NJ.
