WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - New Jersey Institute of Technology men's track and field team competed at the 12th Annual Monmouth University Track and Field Season Opener on Saturday afternoon.
Thirteen Division I teams competed at this event: Rutgers, Delaware State, FDU, Fordham, Hofstra, Iona, Monmouth, Temple, St. Joseph's, St. Peter's, Rider and St. Francis (N.Y.) in the dual meet.
The Highlanders topped Hofstra (74-31) and Iona (74-38).
Sophomore Umar Saeed was the top finisher for the Highlanders in the 1500 meter run (4:17.90). Duc Tran finished with a time of (4:28.45). In the 400 meter dash Jeffrey Page and Jose Camacho crossed the line side by side with times of (53.51, 53.53).
The Highlanders return to action when they travel to Wagner on March 31 for a 9am start.
