JERSEY CITY, NJ - The NJIT men's and women's track and field teams co-hosted its second meet of the year with Saint Peter's College at the Engineers Invitational in Lincoln Park Saturday afternoon.
NJIT's senior Denaya Hemingway finished in the top five in four events while freshman Amanda Hefferan took a first place finish in the 1500 meter run. Hemingway placed second in the hammer throw and fourth in the discus and shot put.
Rookie Mark Givens finished second in the 200 and 400 meter run while Chadwick Munroe picked up his first -- first place finish as a Highlander in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.08.
Junior sprinter Lesley Hendricks placed second in the 200 meter dash seconds behind Saint Peter's R. Parham.
In the men's 1500 meter run, the Highlanders had four different runners finish in the top 10 - Umar Saeed, Munroe, Stefan Montalvo and Brad Leonhardt.
The Highlanders return to action on Saturday when they compete in the Coach "O" Invitational.
