CHICAGO - No. 15 Loyola University Chicago defeated visiting NJIT 3-1 (30-20, 28-30, 30-28, 30-27) at Alumni Gym on Friday night.

The Highlander's fall to 9-8 overall while Loyola-Chicago improves to 11-9.

Loyola-Chicago's Ian Anderson posted a match-high 23 kills while teammate Nick Lamoureux followed with 14. Setter Mike Hultz recorded a double-double, 56 assists, 13 digs.

Leading the way for the Highlanders was Co-captain Eduardo Welter with 17 kills while adding nine digs. Junior Amobi Armstrong registered 12 as senior Leonardo Paludo posted 11.

The Highlanders had their most efficient offensive game in the second, committing just four errors on 28 swings and 13 kills.

With the game tied at 26-26 in game two, the Highlanders took advantage of a Rambler service error to take the lead for good as NJIT would go on to claim by a score of 30-28.

Sophomore Charles Bell hit .250 recording eight kills on 16 attempts with four errors. Setter Rodrigo Correa piled up 40 assists.

Senior Chris Siddayao dug-up 10 digs as Welter added nine. Armstrong and Correa each recorded six digs apiece. Welter picked up three out of five service aces for the Highlanders.

The Highlander's return to action tomorrow night and take on Lewis, which was nationally-ranked earlier in the season. The following weekend on March 21 and 22, NJIT will play in California at the University of the Pacific, which is not ranked now, but was as high as eighth before finishing 15th in the final national poll in 2007.
