BANNER ELK, NC - The New Jersey Institute of Technology men's volleyball team raised its overall record to 18-9 Friday night, defeating Lees-McRae 3-1 at Williams Gymnasium in the first match of the weekend tournament.
This year's 18 victories are the most in a season for NJIT since the 1999 Highlanders finished with 24 wins.
The Highlanders snapped a two-match winning streak by the Bobcats, who fall to 4-7 on the year.
Lees-McRae scored a 30-25 win in game one, but the Highlanders stormed back to win the next three games, 30-22, 30-26 and 30-23, respectively.
NJIT returns to action Saturday when it takes on the Mount Olive Trojans at 11 am.
