NEWARK, NJ - The New Jersey Institute of Technology women's fencing team opened its 2005-06 season by hosting Sacred Heart in the Fleisher Athletic Center fencing salle on Sunday.
Sacred Heart came away with an 18-9 win, capturing the sabre competition, 6-3, and the epee, 9-0, while NJIT won the foil, 6-3.
Felicia Amaechi won twice and picked up a third point in the foil for NJIT. Deepti Sanjai was 2-1 in the sabre.
The Highlanders are slated to face four opponents at Stevens in Hoboken, NJ, on Sunday, November 20.
