NJIT Competes at Temple

PHILADELPHIA - The New Jersey Institute of Technology women's fencing team competed at Temple University on Sunday, taking on teams from Drew, Hunter, Rutgers, Johns Hopkins, Stevens and host Temple.

The Highlanders fell in a close 15-12 decision to Hunter in their best team showing of the day. They won the sabre competition, 9-0, but came up short in the foil and epee. Jennifer Olsztyn won three bouts and Deepti Sanjai won two for NJIT vs. Hunter in the sabre. Felicia Amaechi was a two-bout winner in the foil and Lauren Dimiceli won a bout in the epee.

Against Rutgers, Amaechi scored in the foil, as did Sanjai in the sabre.

Marta Oporska won an epee bout vs. Johns Hopkins, while Amaechi claimed a foil victory and Sanjai won twice in the sabre, while Olsztyn won one bout.
