Epee Results; Foil Results; Sabre Results
JERSEY CITY, NJ - New Jersey Institute of Technology's women's fencing team competed at the 76th Annual NIWFA Christmas Invitational at the Cobra Fencing Academy Sunday afternoon.
The event, sponsored by the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association, involved competition in three weapons among 129 fencers representing over 20 colleges and universities. The all-day event included competition in the foil, sabre and epee.
Emma Buckingham of Haverford won the epee competition while Samantha Miles from Temple secured the win in the foil.
In the sabre won by another Temple fencer Lauren Baker, the Highlanders were represented by Nicole Fagundo who finished in 36th place. Last year, Fagundo finished 42nd as she moved up six places finishing 36th this year.
The Christmas Invitational is an individual event for collegiate women hosted by the NIWFA on the first Sunday in December.
NJIT returns to action on December 9 when they travel to Fairfield, Connecticut for the Sacred Heart Invitational against host Sacred Heart, Yeshiva and Hunter at 10am.
