ALBANY, NY - The NJIT women's swimming team traveled to Albany Wednesday afternoon taking on Siena for its first match of the 2008 season.

Rookie swimmer Karen Cilento placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle setting a season-best time. "Karen's time in the 50-freestyle just missed Stephanie Dubyna's school-record time of 25.62 which was set on November 10, 2000. I'm very optimistic that she will break the record by the end of the season," Coach Eric Rasmussen added.

Cilento had similar results in the 100-yard freestyle as she placed third setting another season-best time. "This was another great swim for Karen," Rasmussen stated.

Highlander Teresa Higgins started off the meet setting a personal-best in the 200-yard freestyle and setting another personal-best in the 100-yard backstroke finishing fifth in both events.

NJIT's Ashley Craig who was swimming for the first time this season set a personal-best in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.

"Both Teresa and Ashley had a great day where they recorded personal-best times," said Rasmussen.

The Highlanders return to action on Saturday when they travel to Fairfield for a 1pm match.
