NEWARK, NJ - Senior Ana Ossa set a New Jersey Institute of Technology women’s swimming school record in the 100-yard breaststroke in the Highlanders’ 98-73 loss to visiting Mount Saint Mary (NY) on Saturday.
Ossa’s school-record time of 1:11.39 was also 13 seconds better than anyone else in the pool on Saturday.
The senior also took first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:43.40, which was more than a minute ahead of the second-place finisher.
NJIT freshman Alaine Fairweather was first in the 50-yard freestyle at 27.58 seconds.
The Highlanders opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay at 2:26.80. The winning four for NJIT were Lorin Diaz, Ossa, Chemu Koech and Angelica Sepulveda.
NJIT’s next scheduled team meet is January 21 at 1 pm, when it will host Adelphi.
