BUFFALO, NY - Canisius defeated visiting New Jersey Institute of Technology, 61-26, in women's swimming Saturday in Western New York.
The Highlanders picked up points in four events, with two swimmers, Alaine Fairweather and Teresa Higgins scoring in the 50-yard freestyle. Fairweather was third at 29.06 and Higgins was fifth at 30.2.
NJIT also picked up points in the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay. The relay teams in both events were: Lorin Diaz, Higgins, Fairweather and Jackie McCaffrey. Higgins earned nine points in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:08.86.
The Highlanders are off until January 20, when they are scheduled to swim at Fairfield in Connecticut in a meet slated for an 11 am start.
