JERSEY CITY, NJ - The New Jersey Institute of Technology women's tennis team picked up their four win; first of their 2007 campaign Friday afternoon, with a 7-0 decision over St. Peter's in Jersey City.
NJIT swept in the doubles contest. Sophomore Iulia Doci and Fatima Kasem topped Angela Wiggins and Vanessa Pangikas 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Isha Toor and Fanny Aizier picked up points with an 8-1 win over Kristy Bonner and Merideth Earley 8-1 at the No. 2 spot. Chiori Koike and Marine Henry swept Jing Cheung and Andrea Esty at No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Iulia Doci started off the 2007 season defeating Pangikas 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Freshman Marine Henry picked up her first win of the season as a highlander topping Angela Wiggs, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. Henry made her collegiate debut without giving up a single game in both her single and double matches. Didem Cakiroglu, Toor and Koike all earned points for the Highlanders at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles.
The Highlanders will return to action when they host Long Island University on February 10 at Tenafly Racquet Club for a 7pm start.
