St. John's (NY) Edges NJIT, 4-3

QUEENS, NY - St. John's (NY) edged visiting NJIT, 4-3, in the women's tennis action Sunday afternoon.

NJIT junior Iulia Doci, was one of three Highlander singles winners, prevailing in the first spot, 1-0 after the match was retired. She combined with senior Fatima Kasem in first doubles, falling 8-5.

Sophomore Fanny Aizier battled a hard fought match coming out on top. Fanny fell 5-7 in the first set but came back in the next two frames 6-3, 10-8.

The last Highlander to prevail in the singles competition was Chiori Koike who won by default due to injuries on the St. John's roster.

NJIT returns to action on Thursday when they host Fordham at 4pm at the Fleisher Athletic Center tennis courts.
