NEWARK, NJ - The New Jersey Institute of Technology women's tennis team raised it overall record to 12-8 with a convincing 6-1 win over Manhattan Tuesday afternoon at the Fleisher Athletic Center.
NJIT won five of the six singles matches and swept the three doubles matches.
Iulia Doci and Fatima Kasem teamed for an 8-3 win in first doubles against Manhattans' duo of Jennifer Fowler and Morgan McTaggart. Doci also defeated Fowler in first singles, 6-1, 6-4.
Isha Toor and Fanny Aizier picked up an 8-7 (4) win for NJIT in second doubles, while Toor claimed a win in third singles, defeating Casey Conklin, 6-1, 6-0. Chiori Koike and Marine Henry topped Lindsey Spagnola and Nicole Mazza 8-1 at third doubles.
Koike and Henry both picked up wins for the Highlanders at fourth and sixth singles.
The only win for Manhattan was at second singles, won by Lindsey Keeler, 6-4, 6-2.
The women's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday, April 10, when they travel to Bethpage, NY to face Hofstra University. The match begins at 3:00pm.
