Women's Tennis Defeats Monmouth, 6-1

NEWARK, NJ - The NJIT women's tennis team raised its overall record to 2-0 with a convincing 6-1 win over visiting Monmouth Monday afternoon at the Fleisher Athletic Center.

NJIT won five of the six singles matches and picked up two wins in the doubles contests.

Iulia Doci and Isha Toor teamed for an 8-0 win in first doubles against Monmouth's duo of Kaitlin Gallagher and Sarah Ragan. Doci also defeated Gallagher in first singles (6-0, 6-1), while Dasa Stanimirovic of the Highlanders topped Ragan in a three-set tilt at second singles (6-1, 3-6, 6-2).

Stanimirovic and Fanny Aizier picked up an 8-1 win for NJIT in second doubles, while Aizier and Toor picked up points for the Highlanders at third and fourth singles. Chiori Koike claimed a hard-fought win in fifth singles, defeating Diane Washer, 6-3, 4-6, (10-6).

The Highlanders are slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 26, when they travel to Emmitsburg, MD to face Mount St. Mary's at 4pm.
