NORFOLK, VA - NJIT junior Iulia Doci was eliminated from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association East Regional Championship tournament in the Round of 64 when she lost in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5 Sunday morning to eighth-seeded Lana Krasnopolsky of Boston College.

Krasnopolsky was an all-Atlantic Coast Conference honoree after the spring 2007 season and received a first-round bye in the field that began with 97 players, including the survivor of a 32-player qualifying tournament.

The entire ITA Regional is being hosted by Old Dominion University.

Krasnolpolsky went on the Round of 32, where she defeated Brown's Marisa Schoenfeld, 6-2, 6-1, thus advancing to Monday's Round of 16.

Round of 16 play and quarterfinals were slated for Monday, with the semifinals and championship final set for Tuesday at ODU.

The East Regional champion moves on to the ITA national tournament, which features the champions of the ITA's eight regions competing for the national championship.

Doci defeated number Jessica Brouwer of Virginia Tech, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 in opening round play on Saturday evening to advance into the Round of 64.

The ITA competition completed NJIT's fall season. Tennis will resume on February 1, 2008, when the Highlanders visit the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY.
