PARAMUS, NJ - New Jersey Institute of Technology defeated St. Francis (NY) and Saint Peter's but lost to Wagner in Saturday's women's NJIT Track and Field Highlander Invitational hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology held at Bergen Community College.
The meet was scored as a series of head-to-head competitions, as the Highlanders beat St. Francis, 49-40 and Saint Peter's, 47-23. Wagner topped NJIT, 82-27.
Kasha Hornstein set a freshman school record in the high jump with a 1.29m.
Individually, freshman Lesley Hendricks placed third in the 100 meter dash for the Highlanders earning six points and finishing with a time of 13.67. Dharshini Sivakumaran, Donita Crudup and Tara Rhett finished fifth, sixth and eighth for NJIT.
In the 400 yard hurdles, junior Jackie McCaffrey placed fifth with a final time of 1:25.40. Teammate's Ashley Craig and Kasha Hornstein picked up a third and fourth in the high jump with heights of 4'3, 4'0 respectively.
Senior Eti Ebewo threw the shot put 38.03 meters, which was good for a third place finish. Freshman twin sisters Kehinde Oyelola and Taiwo Oyelola finished eighth and twelfth with throws of 29.05, 26.05.
