TULSA, OK - Host Tulsa took the first three frames to claim a 3-0 victory in day one of the Tulsa Invitational in women's volleyball action Friday afternoon.
The Golden Hurricane who improved their overall record to 9-3 won the match 30-17, 30-14, 30-16.
Highlanders Kubra Tanrikulu, Erica Schultz and Katrina Hornstein each tallied four kill apiece while Agnieszka Pregowska followed behind with three of her own. Setter Danielle Thompson recorded 11 assists.
On the defensive side, libero Sabrina Baby who is coming off a career-high 41 digs against Lafayette on Tuesday night combined for a team-high 14 digs. Schultz and Hornstein each tallied nine and eight respectively as teammate Tanrikulu dug-up five.
For Tulsa, Fabiola Nepomuceno recorded a match-high 19 kills while Emma Ridley posted 12. Setter Renee Brooks notched a match-high 40 assists. Nicole Boyle tallied 18 digs as Malorey Grove tallied 15.
The Highlanders return to action tomorrow September 15, when they face Grambling State at 11am and close-up the Tulsa Invitational against North Texas at 2pm.
