NJIT Sweeps Morgan State, 3-0

NEWARK, NJ - NJIT junior Kubra Tanrikulu posted a double-double leading the Highlanders offense with 13 kills, 10 digs en route to its third victory of the year over visiting Morgan State Tuesday night in women's volleyball action at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center.

None of the games Tuesday night were blowouts as the Highlanders played from in front most of the night, taking a 3-0 decision 30-22, 3-25, 30-21.

NJIT, which posted its third win of the season, raised its overall record to 3-12 as the Lady Bears fell to 0-10 on the season.

Also helping out on the offensive side for the Highlanders was junior Agnieszka Pregowska who notched 11 kills on 21 attacks without an error for a sizzling .524 attack percentage. Sophomore transfer Erica Schultz produced a solid hitting percentage of .500 (7 kills, 1 error, 12 attempts).

Schultz and Danielle Thompson split time at the setting position recording 23, 17 assists respectively. Libero Sabrina Baby tallied a match-high 15 digs while teammate Katrina Hornstein dug-up 13.

NJIT combined for 10 service aces led by Baby with five and Pregowska with four.

For Morgan State, Esther Johnson and Jeniqua Moran each chipped in 12 kills apiece in the loss. Jentri Fullove posted a match-high 35 assists. Ashley Preston had 10 digs on the defensive end.

The Highlanders return to action on Friday, September 21 when they travel to Cambridge, MA for the Harvard Tournament. NJIT takes on Hartford Friday at 4pm. On Saturday, September 22 they face Dartmouth at 10:00am and close out the match against host Harvard.
