MAYO AND ALVAREZ LEAD HIGHLANDERS TO 4-0 SWEEP IN NJIT CLASSIC

BRONX , NY - Paced by, the New Jersey Institute of Technology women's cross country team to team victories over Caldwell, Dominican, Dowling and Concordia at the NJIT Classic, conducted on Sunday at Van Cortlandt Park.

Dowling's Mary Ridenour was the top individual finisher, traversing the 5-kilometer course in 22:23.30 and barely edging NJIT's Mayo (22:23.92). Alvarez, a senior, was third at 24:13. Because the Dowling team was incomplete, Mayo was the top point scorer in the race, followed by Alvarez.

Freshman Barbara DeLaCruz finished seventh for NJIT (26:22), while Rebecca Lindsey was ninth (26:48). Viviana Florea's 27:14 was good for 10 th place.

The team scores for NJIT were: NJIT 23, Caldwell 32; NJIT 15, Dominican 40; NJIT 15, Dowling, Inc.; and NJIT 15, Concordia, Inc.
