Liz Mayo Leads NJIT Runners at ECAC Race

BRONX, NY - Senior Liz Mayo was the top runner for the New Jersey Institute of Technology women's cross country team in the Eastern College Athletic Conference championship competition held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on Saturday.

NJIT's runners competed in the 5-kilometer ECAC University race, won by Catherine Parker of the University of New Hampshire in 18:10.5.

Running against a field of 146 runners, mostly from NCAA Division I schools, Mayo placed 102nd, covering the course in 21:09.9.

Viviana Florea (26:35.5) and Katie Carroll (26:36.2) also competed for NJIT.

Six different championship races were held on Saturday in conjunction with the IC4A and ECAC championships. Three IC4A championship races were held for men and three ECAC championship races were held for women. It was the 97th annual IC4A championship meet and the 21st annual ECAC meet.
