2007 Highlander Invite

NEWARK, NJ - Freshman Amanda Hefferan led the NJIT women's cross country team at the Highlander Invite Sunday morning giving the Highlanders a 4-1 overall record for the 2007 season.

The Highlanders defeated St. Peter's 21-38 in the 5k race at Branch Brook Park.

Hefferan, who covered the 5K race recorded a freshman record with a finish time of (19:56) breaking her old time of (19:58) which she set on September 16 at the NJIT Classic.

Freshman Katherine Joseph and junior Jackie McCaffrey finished third and fourth with respected times of 21:47; 22:15.

Sophomore captain Cara Constantino is back on track from last year as she placed sixth with a time of 22:35 while freshman Daisy Gallegos finished three seconds later (22:38).

Also placing for the Highlanders was Nicole Kerrison and Lesley Hendricks.

The Highlanders return to action on Saturday, October 20 when they travel to Pomona, NJ for the CTC Championship which is scheduled to start at 11am.
